The Djurwa team was honoured to participate yesterday in a Reconciliation panel discussion at our customer Icon Construction’s South Yarra GLM2 office.
The event was opened with a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony by traditional Wurundjeri custodian Alex Kerr.
Following the ceremony, Icon’s Nicole Donnison kicked off the panel discussion around what this year’s Reconciliation theme "Now More than Ever” means to each of us as individuals and from an organisational perspective.
Panel participants were Djurwa’s Nathan Martin, Scott McCartney, Natalie ‘Nanii’ Davies, and Icon’s Alistair Munro, Nick Taylor and Mick Ryan.
The overall messages from this panel were to get comfortable with the uncomfortable; educate yourself on true Indigenous history in Australia. Reconciliation starts at home; focus on your immediate sphere of influence. Genuine curiosity and interest to learn more about Indigenous culture is not offensive; in fact, it is encouraged!
The Djurwa team would like to extend our warm thanks to Nicole and the Icon team for inviting us to this magnificent event.
